DCE Library - AR information from Mrs. Lund!
Around Town
Parents we are super excited to start our Accelerated Reader (AR) program this year. We decided to switch things up this year and take a trip “Around Town” to earn prizes. Once your child reaches the point total for the specific goal they will get to move their car around town. More points more rewards! Ask your child all about it.
Classroom
As if we aren’t crazy enough we decided to step it up a notch with classroom AR goals too!! Each classroom with have a specific goal to earn throughout the quarter. If they reach their goal then watch out-you should be able to hear the giggles if I get pied in the face by 200+ students.

We were informed this summer that the Living Tree Engage platform will no longer be available after September 1 for schools and families to use as a communication tool. We have been searching for a replacement, which has been difficult because Living Tree was so AWESOME! We have, however, found a new product offered by the company that supports our website and DC App. This will allow for a one-stop-shop and not require downloading ANOTHER app. Plus, it will be available K-12! Because this is a new platform for the company, it does not feature all of the same capabilities as Living Tree, YET. We will be able to privately direct message teachers/parents and still share the exciting learning that is going on in our classrooms through their new feature called Rooms. Be watching for more information coming soon!

Today Mrs Ator’s 3rd grade played a place value game. Students tossed bean bags in bins labeled thousands, hundreds, tens and ones. They counted the number of bean bags in each bin to create a number.

DCE Families: Student safety is our #1 concern throughout the day. Part of that day includes drop-off and pick-up. Today, during pick-up, you will notice that we have blocked off a section in front of the school to allow for more visibility of students as they are leaving school grounds. Students and families are asked to use the CROSSWALKS and not cross in the middle of the street. Also, do not stop your vehicle in the middle of the street to pick up your student. This slows down traffic even more and is a safety hazard. Dismissal is a busy, chaotic time and we understand that parking is limited, but taking a few extra minutes to ensure that students leave the school safely is worth it! We appreciate everyone's cooperation in making things more orderly and SAFE for our students. Information regarding updated drop-off procedures will be coming soon.
