Dear DCE Families,
Cases of RSV have been reported within our community and at Divide County Elementary. Please see the attached RSV Fact Sheet and familiarize yourself with the signs and symptoms of RSV. If your child becomes ill, please keep them home.
We will continue to monitor the situation at school. For more information, please contact your healthcare provider.

DCE Families,
This school year, your child will be participating in the Reading Mastery Transformations reading intervention program. Reading Mastery Transformations will expand your child’s reading skills, setting up your child for success in school. Teachers and paraprofessionals at DCE will strive to make your child’s reading experience successful, enjoyable and rewarding.
Reading Mastery Transformations is an evidence-based Direct Instruction program that is proven to raise reading performance for a wide range of students. Your child will be spending approximately 40-50 minutes a day engaged in the Reading Mastery Transformations program. Reading Mastery instruction is delivered to all learners in a variety of settings and – through placement testing – meets learners at their instructional levels. This means your child may have a Reading Mastery teacher that is not their regular classroom teacher. Your child also may not be participating in Reading Mastery Transformations; however, they will still be receiving instruction to further advance their reading skills.
At DCE we are calling this additional reading time, “Walk to Read”. During Walk to Read, your child will go to their designated classroom and receive explicit instruction that will accelerate learning and help them achieve substantial results.
Walk to Read will start on Monday, October 4th. The Walk to Read schedule is Monday - Friday. Grades K-1-2 (10:10-11:00) Grades 3-4 (11:00-11:40) Grades 5-6 (8:55-9:35)

DCE Character Trait Focus
We will be focusing on a different Character Trait each month at Divide County Elementary and watching for extraordinary acts of that character throughout the school day. Students who get “caught” exhibiting the specific trait of the month will be recognized with a special colored ticket. That ticket will go into a drawing for a fun prize or opportunity at the end of the month. Of course, the real reward is watching our students develop good character and pride in themselves as they practice making good choices!
Aug/Sept. – Kindness
Oct. – Honest
Nov. – Reliable
Dec. – Fair
Jan. – Respectful
Feb. – Fair
March – May - ALL
